Clasp hands together and press away from you.
Yup, you there sitting reading this very interesting blog, I am talking to you. Stand up and reach for the sky. Streeeeeeetch.
You see the commercials (“a body in motion, stays in motion” ) for the medications, creams, heat pads and copper bandages all to help fix your aching problems. You know the ones. Stiff necks, low back pain, bum knees, and hips. How about we all stop looking for the quick fix and put a little skin in the game. Sorry to be blunt but we have become a lazy society looking for someone else to make us feel better now. It just does not and should not work that way. The body needs to move; bend, twist and stretch. We were not made to sit for hours and hours on end. It will make you ill if you do so. I understand we all have to make a living but there is no reason that when you are not working you should still be sitting and not moving.
As a former personal trainer and survivor of the cubical farm, I understand and want to help you feel better. You will find some pics of stretches you can do at your desk. Over the next few weeks, I will keep posting more. Try and do them on a daily basis and see how it makes you feel. Leave a comment and let me know your results.
