Massage is Stress Management

Massage is one of the most popular forms of stress management. There are lots of different reasons people seek out a massage therapist; from pain and injury treatment, headaches and migraine relief, repetitive stress injury treatment and prevention. One of the most frequent sayings I hear when I ask why a client comes in is “I am so stressed.” then it is followed by this or that hurts. Stress… that nasty 6 letter word is the source of so many health problems. According to WebMD stress can exacerbate many health problems. Such as; heart disease, asthma, obesity, diabetes, headaches, depression and anxiety, gastrointestinal problems, Alzheimer disease, accelerated aging and premature death (scary)…
Walking around chronically stressed only causes physical harm to your body and makes you an unhappy person. Honestly, no one wants to be around an unhappy stressed out you. Your family and friends love you and know there is a better side than the grumpy stress ball you
Take the time to care for yourself. No one will do it for you. You can not be your best for anyone if you feel lousy all the time. It is ok.
A massage will help you relax. You are allowed to take a moment to breathe deep and just be. You have 60 minutes or 90 minutes where no one can bother you. No phone calls, texts, bosses pushing deadlines, crying babies or whining children. In those minutes you are taken care of. Tender knots are worked on, muscles stretched, joints relaxed and mentally so much more. You leave with lower blood pressure, lower heart rate, breathing deeper, and more relaxed mentally than a big ol’ glass of wine. You will sleep well and feel recharged.
As I sit here and write this blog I will admit to being a big ol’ stress ball.
I am going to go book a massage for myself. I deserve it and so does my family.
